New Unemployment Claims Dip Slightly Last Week, Increase In Greene County

The number of new unemployment claims dropped slightly statewide last week, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

Statewide, there were 9,873 new claims for the week ending October 17, which is down from the 10,145 claims the previous week. Since March 15, there have been 891,598 new claims filed with the state.

The number of continued claims remains headed downward, with a total of 77,740 unemployment claims remaining on the rolls. That number is less than half the total number of active claims that were recorded just four weeks earlier.

Greene County added 93 initial claims last week, up from 87 the prior week. According to the state, there were 785 continued unemployment claims from the county.
