A new bill would require schools to supply free feminine hygiene products.
The bill would require Tennessee public high schools that are eligible to participate in the community eligibility provision under the national school lunch program to provide items such as tampons and sanitary napkins in girl's bathrooms and locker rooms for free.
The products would be for student use only.
The bill was filed for introduction in the state Senate and House on February 6. It is sponsored by Democrat Senator Sara Kyle of Memphis and Democrat Representative G.A. Hardaway of Memphis.
