Jury Selection Set For February 10

Wednesday, January 8, 2098

Jury selection in the Lillelid murder trial will begin February 17th, a week later than originally scheduled.
Judge James Beckner notified attorneys of the new date Wednesday as part of the agenda for this mornings Pre-Trial Conference. Originally, jury selection had been scheduled to start February 10th, at an as-yet undisclosed county.

Several other items are on the agenda for today's hearing, the first of several scheduled for the month. They include the status of DNA testing and possible insanity pleas in the case.

Six Kentucky youths face charges related to the April 6th shooting deaths of three members of the Lillelid family near Baileyton.

Workers Tuesday continued courtroom preparations for proceedings in the trial. The railing surrounding the well of the court was moved back as part of a courtroom realignment to accommodate the large number of defense attorneys and the defendants as well as the prosecution. The court is also in the process of determining the makeup of the courtroom during the trial, as it pertains to available seating.
