Cornett Gets New Attorneys

Tuesday, April 23, 2097

A new preliminary hearing date for the four suspects in the April 6th Baileyton murders has been set for next month. The preliminary hearing, originally scheduled for today, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 21st at 9:00 AM before Judge James Carter.

Carter today appointed Robert Cupp of Johnson City and Stacy Street of Elizabethton as attorneys for murder suspect Natasha Wallen Cornett. The judge had removed Cornett's original attorney, Eric Conn, of Kentucky, from the case last week, citing Conn's non-compliance with Tennessee Rules. Cornett and five others are charged with the shooting deaths of three members of the Lillelid family on April 6th near Baileyton.
