Feb. 3, 1998 - Judge Denies
Continuance In Lillelid Trial
The judge in the Lillelid Murder case has denied
another defense motion for a continuance in the start of that trial.
Criminal Court Judge James Beckner this morning heard oral arguments from attorneys for
the 6 Kentucky youths charged with the April, 1997 shooting deaths of a Powell family off
I-81 in Greene County.
The judge then denied the continuance motions, which will allow orientation of prospective
jurors to begin as scheduled on February 17th. Actual jury selection will then begin on
February 23rd. The court has yet to announce from which county the jury will be selected.
Once the jury is seated, they will be transfered to Greene County where the trial will be
held.
