July 07, 1997 - Peter Leaves For Sweden
The only survivor of the April 6th shootings in Baileyton that killed three members of a Knox County family is leaving for Sweden today. Last week, a Knoxville Chancellor awarded custody of two year old Peter Lillelid to his father's sister, Ronde Heir, of Sweden. Heir and the child's maternal relatives had been involved in a custody battle for the child. Peter was critically wounded, but survived, in a shooting on a gravel road near Baileyton in which his father, mother, and sister died. Six suspects in the murders are scheduled for court hearings in Greeneville next week.
