June 20, 1997 - Psychologist
Testifies In Custody Hearing
The custody hearing for two year old Peter Lillelid
continues this morning in Knoxville. In testimony Saturday, a clinical psychologist
testified that the boy would be better suited raised by his paternal aunt and her family
in Sweden. Dr. Diane McCoy, an independent witness, testified that she based her opinion
on analysis of seventeen factors determined critical to the issue of guardianship of the
boy. Peter Lillelid was the only survivor of the April 6th shootings near Baileyton which
took the lives of his father, mother, and sister. Chancellor Frederick McDonald will hear
a third day of testimony in the case today to settle the dispute between Peter's paternal
and maternal family members.
