April 15, 1997 - Suspects Arrive
in Greene County

Amidst jeers from a large crowd of onlookers, four persons charged in connection with last
week's murders near Baileyton arrived at the Greene County Detention Center early Monday
evening. Twenty year old Joseph Risner, nineteen year old Edward Dean Mullins, eighteen
year old Natasha Wallen Cornett, and eighteen year old Crystal Renee Strugell were flown
by U. S. Marshals to the McGee Tyson Airport in Knoxville Monday afternoon, then
transported in separate vehicles to Greene County.

Upon their arrival, the crowd, which had lined the route near the detention centers
sallyport area, began their verbal attack on the suspects. All four were escorted inside
the detention center without incident. They are being housed separately from the general
population and each other. Sheriff Terry Jones says he was relieved to have four of the
six suspects in last week's triple homicide back in Greene County.

That arraignment in scheduled for this morning before Judge James Carter. Sheriff Jones
says he understands the two females have already secured legal council from Kentucky. The
two males have not yet done so and could be appointed attorneys during today's
arraignment. All six suspects were initially charged with felony murder in commission with
a theft. Sheriff Jones says other charges are pending.

The two juveniles, seventeen year old Karen Renee Howell and fourteen year old Jason Blake
Bryant, remain in a Bisbee, Arizona jail awaiting extradition at a later date.
